I’m John Cooper, or Coop as I am known to most, and I own and
operate African Adventures Safari Company. My passion
for Africa started as a very young child and I blame my
parents for letting me watch too many Tarzan movies and
episodes of Jungle Jim. The result was that for the last
twenty years I have been travelling to, and living in,
“The Dark Continent”. I have particularly fallen in love
with Southern Africa and have had the chance to travel
here extensively. Most importantly I have lived in
Africa, Zimbabwe to be exact, and run an ostrich farm
for my mates in The Eastern Highlands until the problems
began with Uncle Bob and his desperate bid to hold onto
power by persecuting white farmers.
Even so,
Southern Africa, and yes including Zimbabwe, is the
best, most diverse, visually stunning and safe
destination on the continent. As a result a few years
ago I decided to share my passion of all things African
with others and started African Adventures Safari
Company. This a very grand name for a very modest
business but it never hurts to have aspirations. I say
this is a modest business as I am the “Jack of all
trades” who not only organizes the safaris but also
escorts them. I control all aspects of my tours from
beginning to end and I don’t employ other staff to give
you second hand information. The only time I ever use
the services of someone other than myself is in Africa
where good friends of mine who are qualified
professionals sometimes escort groups when I can’t.
This is all
a huge benefit to you the traveler. Why? The answer is
simple. By being totally “hands on” I leave nothing to
chance, all the venues and destinations are places I
have personally visited and vetted and most importantly
it keeps my costs down. As a result I can pass on these
savings to you and offer safaris with all the extras but
at a realistic price. If you don’t believe this just
check what is on offer elsewhere and compare services
and prices.
I should add that my experience and familiarity with our
destinations gives you the chance to see things and meet
locals not on offer elsewhere. How about having a beer
with the locals at The Boat Club in Victoria Falls,
visiting a school in an isolated part of Matabeleland
where I help out with donations of school materials or
see how the locals of Bulawayo operate S.O.S. ( Save
Our Seniors) a community group who looks after
the welfare of the elderly.
One final point worth noting is that I operate safaris, I am not a
travel agent! This means that you actually get to deal
with the person who organizes, escorts and checks every
aspect of the life changing adventure you are about to
embark upon. You get to call me, email me and even meet
with me, if you are close enough, and get direct answers
to direct questions. I know the answers because I will
be going with you and I leave nothing to chance. Try and
get straight answers from a travel agent who specializes
in P.&O. cruises!!
If you want adventure, if you want an experience that
will change your life but want the security of expert
advice and service then come exploring with African
Adventures Safari Company.
